How will this service help me?

 

This service aims to help people who have self-harmed to get quick access to support and counselling. When you meet with the service Co-ordinator, you will identify and agree what it is you most need in order to improve your life, Then, you will choose a counseling agency that you feel best fits your needs.

 

The Co-ordinator will then arrange for you to be seen as quickly as possible by the chosen counseling agency.

 

The service is available throughout the Western Health and Social Care Trust i.e.
Derry
Enniskillen
Limavady
Omagh
Strabane

Who provides the service?

 

The services are a network of community and voluntary counseling agencies that offer a wide range of support.

 

They are well established and experienced counseling agencies that have been providing services in the community and voluntary sector for many years.

 

The work to professional standards and are fully trained and qualified to deliver the services they offer.

 

All staff are NI checked to work with children and vulnerable adults and are trained in child protection procedures.

 

The counseling agencies will deliver their services in a warm, friendly and welcoming setting. At the start of your counseling wou will be informed about confidentiality and the protection of your information as well as the complaints procedures that exist.

 

The Co-ordinator will address any concerns or questions you may have before referring you to your chosen counselling agency.

If I am interested, what happens next?

 

Trust staff will pass your contact details to the co-ordinator.
You will be contacted by the co-ordinator within 48 hours and a meeting will be arranged.
Together you will agree on which agency best suits your needs.
The co-ordinator will contact the agreed agency and arrange an appointment for you.
You will be seen by your chosen counseling agency within 7 days.

Can I ring up and refer myself to the service later?

 

Of course, if you don’t feel ready when offered, you can ring th co-ordinator at a later date and arrange a time to suit you.
